Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Pet Game Studio when you use the platform, whether you are making a game, playing one, or selling art.

Who can use the platform

  • You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. A game may set a higher minimum age.
  • You must be at least 18 to own a game, to be an artist on the marketplace, or to receive payouts.
  • You need one account, called a Passport, which works across every game. You are responsible for keeping it secure.

If you make a game

  • Your game, including your species, writing, settings and community, belongs to you.
  • You give us permission to host and show your game so that it can run.
  • You are responsible for your game's content, your players' experience, and following the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Every game is reviewed before it opens to the public, and must credit its artists.
  • When you sell to players, you are the seller. You are responsible for your own taxes and refunds. We take the platform fee for your plan from each sale.

If you play a game

  • Each game has its own rules, written by its owner. You agree to them when you join that game.
  • Pets, items and currency exist inside a game and have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for money.
  • Purchases are made from the game's owner, not from us. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy anything.
  • Real money never buys a random draw. Where a container can be bought with premium currency, its odds are shown.

If you sell art

  • You keep ownership of your art. Buyers receive the license you chose when you listed it.
  • You confirm that the art is your own work and that it is hand-made.
  • You are the seller, and you are responsible for your own taxes.

Plans and billing

  • A plan covers one game. Paid plans renew each month or year until you cancel.
  • If you move to a lower plan, nothing is deleted. Features from the higher plan become read-only.
  • Prices can change for new customers. If you pay yearly, your price stays the same for as long as you stay subscribed.

Ending things

  • You can delete your account at any time. There is a 14-day cooling-off period in case you change your mind.
  • You can close your game. Your players will be given notice and 30 days to export their data.
  • We can suspend or close an account or a game that breaks these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Where we can, we will warn you first and explain why.

What we promise, and what we cannot

We work hard to keep the platform running, safe and backed up. We cannot promise it will never go down or never lose data, and the platform is provided as it is.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for content created by game owners, artists or players.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you before the change takes effect and ask you to accept the new version when you next log in.
